If you suffer from insomnia, tonight may be a your night.
The Jets are in Nashville tonight
where the atmosphere is incredible, and the team on the ice is incredibly -
boring. The Preds are 2 points up on the Jets in the newly formed Central
division, so tonight is an important early season contest; just don't expect
what you saw on Tuesday or you will be VERY disappointed. Tonight could be a
trap game versus a trap team.
The last four games the Preds have played have featured 12
goals, total. BOTH teams. Nashville
is currently forth last in the NHL in goal
scoring. Now to be fair, their calling has always been solid team play from the
goal out. They have been blessed with solid starting goalies since their entry
into the league, and they are renowned for drafting and developing defensemen.
To add to the intrigue this even, they have just put starting goalie Pekka
Rinne on I/R after hip surgery, not a good injury for a goalie. There is a
solid chance that Nashville are EVEN MORE buttoned down tonight so the Jets
will have their work cut out for them.
The difference for Winnipeg
should be Blake Wheeler and Evander Kane driving the net. If they use their
speed they should be able to draw penalties. If that happens the power play has
got to step up and take advantage. The best way to beat a trap team is to wear
their PK down. The Jets power play is 25th in the league while the Preds
PK is currently 13th best. There is your key to
the game.

I miss you Burmi! |
The starting goalies will be Carter Hutton who won his first
ever start against the Jets last weekend against Ondrej Pavelec...why wouldn't
it be Pavelec? Sometimes young goalies can have early success against teams
because they don't have a book on them. It will be interesting to see if the
Jets have a better read on him tonight. Game is 6.00 CST on TSN
Jets. Rejoice insomniacs, your sleep may be upon you!
